A Traditional Craft of Aichi

Proof of traditional handicrafts

You may find a product like "tsumugi (a kind of kimono material) designated by the Ministry of Economy Trade and Industry". In this example, all tsumugi materials are not considered to be a traditional craft but only the tsumugi materials that satisfy items expressed in the above-mentioned notification come under "a traditional craft designated by the Ministry of Economy Trade and Industry". Tradition Stamp

Have you ever seen a stamp including the following mark attached to a craft product at a department store or a specialty store?

This stamp, called "Tradition Stamp", is attached on an item designated as a traditional craft. The mark designed by Yusaku Kamekura is the combination of the kanji "den", standing for "tradition", and a red circle expressing the heart of a Japanese.

Tradition Stamps are attached to designated items to indicate that they are made of traditional materials almost all by hand in a traditional technique and skill.

Thus, a Tradition Stamp is proof of traditional handicraft.
